If I will ask you the question: Why should you be buying an automatic watch, what will your answer be?
Aside from telling the time, wristwatches actually provide a lot of benefits- may it be from an aesthetics standpoint or even some psychological benefits as well.
Today, I am going to be talking about the top benefits of having a watch and the aim of this article is to convince you to buy a timepiece after reading this post.
Have you ever stopped to wonder how the first wristwatch was created? Well, one must look back to the 19th century, specifically the First World War.
In order for the soldiers to coordinate their attacks, they would have to rely on their standard-issue pocket watches to do so. However, fishing it out of their pockets is quite cumbersome, given that they are also carrying other stuff as well.
Fortunately, there were some soldiers that had this idea of making a makeshift wristwatch by tying their pocket watches to their wrist using a rope.
After the war ended, some of the soldiers forgot to remove the makeshift pocket watches and some watchmakers were astounded by what they saw. Since then, wristwatches that we know today were born.
Convenient to Tell the Time
If you are a millennial, you are probably convinced that you should never have the need to buy a timepiece since your smartphone can do the same thing (and more).
Although it cannot be argued that phones nowadays do have the ability to tell the time, how convenient is it really? What if you are carrying some stuff and your hands are preoccupied? Can you just fish out your phone from the pocket? I don’t think so.
In some situations, if other people see you with a phone, it is also considered rude as well. This is especially true if you are on a business meeting, an official function, or even a job interview.
Enhance Your Personal Style
No matter how classy or expensive your phone looks, it will never elevate your style because it is not acceptable to just be pinning it on your wrist or any part of your outfit.
That is why if you want an accessory that can tell the time and provide you with some style points, wristwatches are the way to go.
A Pretty Good Gift
A close friend of mine gave his daughter a Bulgari watch for her college graduation. After 4 years, I still see his daughter wearing the same watch and it looks as if it didn’t get any scratches or whatnot. That is because, he told me, that his daughter really loved the timepiece and couldn’t be happier.
A watch may look simple and may have simple and basic functionalities, but for what it’s worth, it is actually a pretty good gift. If given proper care and maintenance, a watch can last a really long time- even to the point of giving it as an heirloom to your next of kin.
